Here are some names that I thought of that someone might use if they wanted a 'Christian' name but didn't actually want to use a person's name from the Bible. They all correspond to more common nicknames.

Bethlehem (Beth)
Hosanna (Anna or Annie)
Alleluia (Allie)
Genesis (Gen)
Amen (Amy)

Nazareth (Naz)
Jerusalem (Jerry or Jer)
Phillippian (Phillip or Phil)
Samaritan (Sam)

Thoughts? Can anyone think of any others?

Bethlehem (Beth) - I adore the nickname Beth, but Bethlehem seems a bit much to me. I can't picture it on a professional or an older person.

Hosanna (Anna or Annie) - I've met someone named this, I like it, though I wouldn't use it.

Alleluia (Allie) - I could see this being a name although it's not my style, it's kind of pretty.

Genesis (Gen) - This is a very pretty name and I kinda LOVE IT though I wouldn't use it for my own child.

Amen (Amy) - Not my style at all, I don't like this as a name.


Nazareth (Naz) - Hm, this could work and I like the nickname Naz actually. Prefer Nasier though.

Jerusalem (Jerry or Jer) - Again too much of a 'place' name, much prefer Jeremiah.

Phillippian (Phillip or Phil) - Not at all, prefer just plain Phillip is fine.

Samaritan (Sam) - I much prefer Sampson/Samson or Samuel. Samaritan is too much of a ''word'' name to me.

The only non-person Christian name I like is Israel, I would totally name my son that. But it's already pretty common among Jewish men, so it's not as out there.

Unfortunately it really doesn't fit with Nathaniel or Norah.

Israel is both a place AND a person. The person came first, and the place was named after him.

Anyhoo,

I like Bethlehem and Genesis. Some people use Canaan as a name, but I'm not a fan at all. I've also seen Revelation and Covenant on a list someone posted recently on this board. Not a fan of those either.

I do like Adamah, Aenon, and Lycia, though.

Ohhhh, you learn something new everyday. I guess I don't like any non-person names then. At least not any that I've heard.

Actually, I like the name you listed, Aenon. Is that pronounced "Ay-non"?

I like Israel as a boy's name. I've had a few friends named this. But wouldn't use it myself, my DH has outlawed all place names...sigh. LOL.

Ephram Spelled differently in the bible if I'm not mistaken. I have loved the name forever but DH said no way.
