I loved the name Katherine and wanted that to be my daughters first name but I'd want to call her Kate. My sister's name is Caitlin and we call her Catie. Too similar. But it fits for her middle name so I'm happy.

We also liked Josephine but my abusive grandfather's name is Joseph so we are obviously not going to name her that.

There were a couple of others but I can't remember them now.

Victoria....i would use the full name. IF we shortened it, i would use "Tori"...but wont use it, too afraid people would call her Vicki which i absolutely do Not like.

I have a huge list of names I can't use because my husband hates them. The only consideration I have for the next baby is if it starts with L, because I don't want 3 Ls and an H. But if I were ever to have a fifth child, Ls would be back on the table. Oh, and Sarah. I really like the name Sarah, but it's my sister-in-law and I hate her. Here's a small selection.

Clover
Sunshine
Meadow
Sapphira
Ginevra
Lilah
Leighton
Lyde

Sirius
Alaric
Oenomaus
Agamemnon
Brighton
Lance
Leonidas
Leonardo

Katherine is my name and I've always loved it because it is so classic! Norah Katherine is beautiful and I think you've made a great name choice!!

I love the name Cara, but I'm in a race with my sister because she likes it too!! I also have always loved the name Mason, but DB HATES it!

I have always loved the name Shiloh for a girl. But then the Jolie-Pitt baby was born and they named her Shiloh. It's still on my list though. Although the Jolie-Pitt clan is popular right now.....they might be in the shadows in the future.

I LOVE Nora but it's my niece's name so I'm not going to use it. My DH has vetoed Gabriel (which was my favorite name for soooo long) and he's also vetoed Vincent and Sullivan (ex-boyfriend's name). He also said no to Ireland, Bronwyn, Adaire and Cassidy. Fortunately we share a love of classic/traditional types of names and there's a lot he hasn't vetoed so I'm in the green with many of the names I like.

Claire- my aunt's name, and she and my mom don't get along
Evan- my ex
Nora- I have a son with an N name and a daughter with an R name, in my mind I can't do that. another son with an N name or another daughter with an R name would be okay though.
Eden- DH won't go for it
Bronwyn- DH didn't even know it was a name, let alone a girls name!
John- clashes with our last name
Jonathan- Jo-Nathan, enough said
Matthew- too many family members with that name
Andrew- too many family members with that name
David- my brother's name

I am sure there are others.

my best friend's sister is Victoria and goes by Tori. I remember when I was about 12 I was at their house and saw something that said "Victoria Beth" on it and I was like, "who is Victoria?" because she was and always is Tori.

Cambria - DH just won't

Chances are that anything Kiri- or Kyri- will also be vetoed should the critter in my belly turn out female. My DH is a junior and it still irritates him how he didn't have a distinct identity growing up.. though we did briefly consider naming the boy critter James III but I don't much like HIS name or the derivatives

Enough time has passed since either of us had another relationship so that the ex names are no longer taboo - the two that come to mind are Daniel and Corina which would be Corinne or Corinna instead. He doesn't like Daniel/Dan, I like it better than most male names.
