Ok, so I'm due next month and my husband and I are having the worst time picking a name for our second boy. We used to have a small list of options but then out of nowhere my husband decides that he'd like to name this baby Gerald after him and his father. It's not that I despise the name, it's just not a name that I want to name my kid. His main point was that he wanted a name that meant something to him. So, after months of arguing about it, I did some research and found names that were derived from Gerald or mean the same thing as Gerald. The only two I like are either Jarrett or Garrett. Still not names I thought I'd ever pick, but at least I like them. Older brother is Mason Christopher (Mason is because a lot of the men in my husband's family were masons and I just loved that name and Christopher because it's my hubby's middle name). I wanted this second baby to have something to do with me so I came up with the middle name of Riker (it's an anagram of my name: Kerri)

So I guess my question is: which is better? (Or if anyone has any other ideas, feel free to share)

Jarrett Riker

Garrett Riker

Uggghhh Gerald, no offense but I recently had a boss named Gerald and hated it lol. I love both Garrett and Jarrett. But Mason and Garrett sound good to me

Also, like the different sounds since Gerald has the J sound and Garrett has the hard G sound. Unless Dh is totally set on them having the same sounding name.

I like Jarrett. It's a little different, but sounds similar to Gerald.

I like Garrett, but if you wanted the same sound as Gerald I prefer Jared over Jarrett.

so, either Jarred or Garrett.

Thanks for the input, it's appreciated. I like the name Jared a lot buuuut... it doesn't have the same meaning as Gerald. Is this guy ridiculous or what? lol. He makes me laugh because he doesn't even go by Gerald, he goes by JC and his father goes by Jerry so it's like why am I going to call this poor kid Gerald when you two don't even use it?! Ugh, infuriating. and I also prefer the spelling Ryker, but then it's not my name. So I guess I'm a little picky, too. Anyway, thanks again, I guess we'll figure it out!!

I prefer Jarrett to Garrett, but both are cute.

You could always tell him to suck it up, because Mason is already named after his side of the family.
