I think Gatsby is... great. Gatsby the Great, or the Great Gatsby.

I took an AP Lit class in high school and I had to do summer homework as a pre-requisite, one of the five books I was supposed to read was in fact F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby." I think it sounds like the name of a private detective in some Edward G. Robinson gangster film noir.

All that comes to mind is The Great Gatsby, hated the book, dislike the name...

Yes, its out there! But when you've been a name nerd for 10 years you start reaching for anything new! No, I'd never name my kid Gatsby....maybe as a mn if I loved the novel??

Not sure how I feel about it...I kinda like it and I kinda don't.
I'd probably love it on an actual child - just not mine!

The Great Gatsby

I don't even know what that's from but that's what immediately comes to mind.

That book was a yawn. I remember my 12th grade teacher picked that as our main essay topic... he used to live in the States for a short time and fell in love with it.

I actually liked the book, but enough people hate it that I'd never use it as a name. I wouldn't want to name my kid after high school required reading anyway.

I also find the sound very unattractive.

If I loved the book so much I wanted to name my kid after it, I'd call him James, nn Jay, which was the character's first name. Gatsby wasn't his real surname anyway, he changed it from Gatz, I think.

I thought the book was just alright. I read it in 9th grade and didn't love it... Just like the name.. It is alright but I don't love it... and the more I think about it the more I think it would fit as an older man's name than a baby. I just can't see it.
