Hey!

I have just found out I am pregnant with my first baby, it was quite unexpected and I am feeling terrible because of the morning sickness so I am trying to get myself excited by thinking about fun things and names were at the top of my list.

Our last name is VERY popular so we are looking for a unique first name, ideally, a name that is not in the top 1000 and definitely not a name that is in the top 100.

This is our girl long list so far, any thoughts/opinions/suggestions?

Acacia
Agatha (Like the nickname Aggie)
Anais (too close to a certian unpleasant word?)
Anouk
Arden
Astra
Aurelia
Aveline
Azalea
Beatrix (Like the nickname Bea)
Betty (too nicknamey? Would like to avoid using Elizabeth)
Calla
Cassia
Cecily (Is the meaning ''blind'' so bad?)
Clementine (Like the nickname Clemmie)
Clover
Cordelia (Like the nickname Delia)
Cosette
Dorothea (Like the nicknames Dotty and Thea)
Echo
Elodie (Is the nickname Ellie avoidable?)
Emmeline (Too close to the popular Emma & Emily?)
Fern
Imogen (Like the nickname Immy)
Indigo (Like the nickname Indie)
Louisa (Like the nickname Lulu)
Magdalena (Like the nicknames Maggie and Lena)
Magnolia (Like the nicknames Maggie and Nola)
Maisie (too nicknamey? Could be a nickname to Magdalena or Magnolia or too much of a strech?)
Maren
Margot
Marlow
Milena (Like the nickname Millie)
Monroe (Too celeb?)
Niamh
Nova
Ottilie (Like the nickname Tilly)
Opal
Philippa (Like the nickname Pippa)
Poppy (Too nicknamey? Could use Penelope as a full name though it is more popular than what we'd like)
Posey (Again, too nicknamey? Could use Josephine or Penelope as a full name, again with their popularity though)
Prudence (Like the nickname Prue)
Saskia
Scout
Seraphina (Too Affleck?)
Sylvie (Too nicknamey? Not sure about Sylvia)
Thea (Could also be used as a nickname to Dorothea)
True
Wren

Thanks very much! boy names will be following shortly.

I like your style! My favs...

Aurelia -- love the meaning

Azalea

Beatrix (Like the nickname Bea)

Cecily (Is the meaning ''blind'' so bad?) -- it depends on how important meanings are to you. It doesn't bother me.

Clementine (Like the nickname Clemmie) -- Love Clementine but not Clemmie. I prefer Emme or Minnie.

Cordelia (Like the nickname Delia)

Cosette

Elodie (Is the nickname Ellie avoidable?) -- I think so. I think Elle would be cute nn though.

Emmeline (Too close to the popular Emma & Emily?) -- Love this one but it does fit in with the Em- trend.

Imogen (Like the nickname Immy)

Louisa (Like the nickname Lulu)

Magdalena (Like the nicknames Maggie and Lena)

Magnolia (Like the nicknames Maggie and Nola)

Maisie (too nicknamey? Could be a nickname to Magdalena or Magnolia or too much of a strech?) -- Eh..it's a bit of a stretch but nn's don't always have to make perfect sense.

Margot

Milena (Like the nickname Millie) -- Love Millie but not Milena. Romilly nn Milly is more my style (it my dd's name )

Ottilie (Like the nickname Tilly) -- I really like this one!

Philippa (Like the nickname Pippa) -- Pippa is great I just wish it wasn't a nn for Philippa (sorry it's just nms).

Poppy (Too nicknamey? Could use Penelope as a full name though it is more popular than what we'd like) -- I like it as a nn myself

Sylvie (Too nicknamey? Not sure about Sylvia) -- I think it can stand alone. Sylvie is so cute and underused. Nice alternative to Sophie

True -- like it as a middle name
Wren -- love it as a middle name

Aurelia - I'm kind of a sucker for this name, and Aurora too

Cecily - I just gave birth on the second and for a quick minute we pondered giving her the middle name Cecily because my middle name is Cecilia. I don't regret not using it, but I think it's lovely just the same

Imogen - I love the old-fashioned sound of Imogene, but I always thought Imogen looked made up

Monroe - I fell in love with this name when Mariah Carey gave it to her daughter, but not because she used it, I fell in love with it because it's such a beautiful name and deserves to be given to the right gender. This is one of those male names that should strictly stay a male name

Seraphina - Again, I'm a sucker for this name as well. Not a big Ben Affleck fan, so I don't know his kids' names, so I wouldn't feel guilty using it

Wren - I love the sound of this name, but I'm not crazy about the spelling. Renn, maybe?

Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to this board

Thanks everyone!

I am definitely adding Astrid & Romilly to my list, I love them!

I also like Willa & Rowan (for a boy) but they are too popular for me.

I like Seraphina, Milena, Aurelia, Calla, and & Emmeline. One suggestion I thought of since you liked Thea is Mattea (Ma-TAY-uh). You could call her "Tay" or "Taya".

Thanks everyone!

We like River (for a boy) but it is in the top 1000, so it is out for us, Margo is already on our list but we prefer the spelling Margot and we love Arya spelt Aria but again, it is in the top 1000 so it is out.

Not sure how Beatrix is trendy since it isn't even in the top 1000.

We have added Odette to the list, awesome suggestion.
