Ditto, it sounds very strange to me. I've never heard that as a name... just floss as in teeth I don't like it.

I went to school with a girl with that name/nn...she still uses it now at 27 (flossy)

being Florence was my gmas name and she went by Flossy so I like it

I like the nn Florie for Flora...it could work for Florence as well. Just and idea I'm not a fan of Flossy for reasons previously mentioned.

Same here, my grandma is Florence and my grandfather always called her Flossy when he wasn't calling her Woman.
