My husband and I loved the movie Storm of the Century, and my husband vowed that we would name our next daughter Pippa after the little girl in the movie. However, now that the Royal Family has taken America by storm and Pippa is a household name, I'm not so sure! It was a rarely mentioned name, and now it's on everyone's lips. Should we still use it if we have a girl? I'm on the fence!

I think only you can make that decision. I depends on just how much it's going to bother you.

I like Pippa. It's still seems like more of a nn to me but I don't care for the formal name Philipa. I think Penelope nn Pippa is pretty cute.

My opinion, if you love it, use it. You'll regret it if you don't.

I regret not using the name I love on my daughter because I was convinced it was going to become over popular. And it hasn't. Not that I don't love her given name, but still.

If you both really love it, I would still use it. It may be fairly popular right now but I dont know that it will become that popular, but it depends on how popular you can stand it being.

Great points. Thanks ladies! It's funny that when I mentioned the name 6 years ago, people wrinkled up their noses and made jokes. Now people have heard the name and seem to like it more at least.

I kind of like Pippa Samone.

I say if you love it use it!

My son's name is Noah which is supposed to be popular. Well we live in the suburbs of Chicago, he's in daycare, school, baseball & basketball & we've only run into 1 Noah in 6 1/2 years.

It's still beautiful and unique. Just because the world knows of one Pippa doesn't make it as common as Sarah or Emily. Pippa will always be a one of a kind name, even though Pippa is Kate's sister. Also, if you do not use the name you will always think of it and wished you had. so GO FOR It!

I totally agree with all of the others If you love it, use it!! It's a really cute and spunky name to me, very unique! And I love it with Samone (although I prefer the "Simone" spelling as well )
Very cute name choice!!

I think you should go for it, it doesn't seem like an overly popular name.

The same here. We have the #1 most popular girl's name (per SSA list) - Isabella - but we have run into only 2 even though in the last 3 years at various times my DD has been in school, gymnastics, soccer, t-ball, swim lessons, art classes, ballet/tap, drama/theater, and church.

Pippa might appear to be too British to become too popular in the U.S.

And, I love the name Pippa!
