What are your opinions? Can it stand alone or do you see it more as a nickname for something longer?

Also, would it be weird to have Kiefer and Leo in a sibset? We already get the Kiefer Sutherland comments all the time so my SO is concerned that we'll get Leonardo DiCaprio comments too...what do you think?

I wouldn't have thought anything about the famous Leo and Kiefer. I think Leo fits great with your kiddos

I personally don't like it, but I DO think it sounds good with your sibset! I wouldn't worry about the Keifer/Leo famous names... I wouldn't have even thought of Sutherland and DiCaprio if you didn't say anything

I'm glad to hear y'all don't immediately associate it with Leonardo Dicaprio. When we named Kiefer, Kiefer Sutherland was the last thing that came to mind but I have been amazed at how many people will say, "oh like Kiefer Sutherland?" when they hear his name for the first time...so annoying!

I adore Leo! I think that it could stand alone as a first name if you give him a longer middle name.

And if you don't like Leonardo (or the Leon/Leonard alternatives), I have seen several people recently with "Leopold" on their lists, although you'd have to be brave to use it.

I like Leo, I had a great uncle Leo so that's what I think of, and I definitely don't have the Decaprio thing as an immediate association.

I really love Leo, as it's one of the only boy names DH and I agree on, but I have been wondering the same thing you're asking - if it's more of a nickname or could stand alone (bc I don't care for any of the longer names it would be a nn for).

This is my dilemma exactly! I don't like any of the longer names that it would be a nickname for...not to mention that I have a thing against naming my child one thing with the intention of calling them something else, KWIM?

Thanks for all the input ladies! Looks like its getting added to the list!

Leo doesn't need a longer version - it's a solid, strong name on it's own!

I like Leo a lot, I think it can stand on its own well.

I agree with you there as well. I would honestly use it as a first name on its own if I was able to find a strong (and longer) middle name to go with it that worked well. (Like Leo Alexander, or Leo Christopher....or whatever!)

I love Leo. My family is greek and my grandfather was Leonidas. I would have loved to name my son that but it SO does not fit with my new married surname
