I'm a teacher at a preschool and since I'm off in the summer I work part time as a nanny. The 2 little girls I take care of are Stella Jane(3) and Lola Violet (1)

what do you think of those names?

They are really not my style. They sound kinda old fashion. But some people like those type of names.

I love Stella and Violet Jane is "meh" but works as a middle name, and Lola seems out of place...it's a nn for Lolita, not meant to be a full name really....

I am not trying to start a fight here but I am tired of reading your posts saying that this isn't a name, that's not a creative name, that name isn't meant to be a name. . . . well they are names, if a child is named something it is a legitimate name as well. As far as Lola. that name has been a full name since the early 1900's...... On its own. It's now making a comeback nobody made it up, nobody shortened it, it has always been Lola.

If your tired of reading my posts than skip them . My opinion was asked and I gave it. I'm not rude to anyone on this board-I have my opinions on names and when asked I share them. I never said the name was "made up" I said it was a nickname, and it is actually listed as a nickname for Delores or Lolita, and I don't like nicknames as given names.

Im sorry, but that is the funniest thing I have heard today....*wipes a tear*

OK, so I'm rude then? Since when is having an opinion considered rude? When have I EVER personally attacked someone? Give me one example and I'll shut up.

Maybe you dont think you are rude, but you come off as rude to most people on this board. There have been many complaints about you. I have more important things to do than track down all the things youve said that sounded rude(wether you meant them as rude or not). If I wasnt so lazy, there are a bunch of threads I could have reported to the mods. But Im not like that. The way you state your opinion comes off as condescending. How hard is it to just say, I dont like that name, or its nms. I dont get why you have to always go off on some tangent on why a name is so terrible and its going to damage them when they grow up.....Its especially rude to say that a name is "made up". Are you the name police? Whats wrong with making up names? Should we all just use the same cookie cutter names over and over??[/b]
Well, if people have been complaining to the mod's that's this is the first I have ever heard about it....so apparently it is ok to say you don't like a name, but not ok to give your reasons why? I am really passionate about names, I think it's fascinating the way that they have developed over the years, and I think there are many beautiful, underused names out there that we haven't even scratched the surface of here. If I come off rude, I apoligize, but sugar coating my opinions is just not my style. If you really want a board that is completely one sided, where people are only allowed to post things like "I like it" or "It's NMSAA", than fine, from now on I will not give my opinion, but I think that's a shame. I see a name board as a useful tool in naming a child because you can hear the honest opinions of people on the name you are considering-and to me that is important because I want to give my child a name that is well thought of. I have posted names on here that have been ripped on, and I never complained because I know it comes with the territory, and I post expecting honesty, not validation.

This is not a debate board though. If you don't like a name you just say that you don't like it or its not your style. That is the way this board goes. . . maybe you could read the etiquette sticky posted at the top of the board. People don't want to post a name and get it run down. I would appreciate if there were no more replies to this post though because I didn't want to start a fight. I know for a fact that people have reported your posts though. . so apparantly they don't enjoy your brutal honesty.

Well, I want to apoligize if I have offended anyone here, or if I seemed rude or condenscending. That certainly wasn't my intention. I'm a pretty blunt person, but I wasn't aware I was hurting anyones feelings. In the future though, if someone does have a problem, I would appreciate it if they came to me first rather than report it to the mods-I promise you, I'm not as scary as you think

Thanks. . .
We want you to continue posting of course. . .
I personally, like you said don't really care that much about what people say about a name. . I won't get really offended about it but most do, so we just need to keep that in mind. Like there are times I could have said more about a name,, but just chose not to, and say I didn't like it.
