My DH and I are still TTC, but have a list of favorite names ready just in case!! The problem is deciding on middle names.

The problem is that a perfectly lovely full name ends up shortened, making its pairing with a middle name kind of hilarious.

For example, a name we love is Wilhelmina, partially because it can be shortened to a few different nicknames.

As I was brainstorming middle names that sounded good, I came upon Jean. Wilhelmina Jean. It flows nicely, I think. Except, if she goes by Billie (which we love), we have a Michael Jackson disaster on our hands. Billie Jean. ...so we need to cross that one off the list.

Same with May. Wilhelmina May. ...or is it Willie May(s).

See what I mean? Has this been an issue for anyone else? lol!

I don't really think it would be an issue. Whenever she'd be using her middle name, it would generally be in a fairly formal setting so it would be without the nickname. Few people actually say their nickname that often. JMO

All my kids go by nicknames but only one goes by her nn and mn (occasionally). She is Romilly Beatrice Gray and we call her Milly Bea at times only because we like the combo. Normally, I only use full names with mn's.

I like Wilhelmina Jean (or even Jane) but I really prefer Willa or Mina as the nickname.

In my opinion your way over thinking this. Wilhelmina Jean is a nice combo.

I think switching Jean with Jane could solve your problems. I like Willa as a nn!
You could also use
Wilhelmina....Hope, Jade, Joy, Faye, Anne, Blair, Irene
