I think it works as a unisex name, but I'd probably use it as a boy name and call him Finn as a nickname (even though the name is "feen-ix"). it's on our name list right now.
My friend's sister has a son named Phoenix so I see it as all boy. She was living in Phoenix, AZ when he was conceived so she named him that. I really dislike it though.
