Grier is a girl's name, Scottish in origin, meaning "watchful, vigilant."

At first glance I figured it was a boys name and I like it. But as a girls name, NMS.

Also once the kiddo gets older you have to be able to look at a name and see it is"teasable". Queer Grier??

Brooke Sheilds named her daughter this...I really don't like it! It just doesn't have a pleasant sound to it...

It sounds... rough around the edges to me. But if you like it then by all means go for it!

What middle name would you put with it?

I actually really like this name...and it's not pronounced in a way that "queer" would rhyme with it. It's actually pronounced like gry-er...[/b]
Any shows that I watched that said anything about Brooke Shields baby pronounced it so it rhymed with queer,,, "greer"

I'm not a big fan of it,, theres something just off about it for a girls name.

I agree that I don't really like it for a girl, it just doesn't sound right.

When I hear this name I think of a tough little boy, not a gentle little girl.

Maybe she does...I was just basing the pronunciation off of a girl I know with that name. But if the poster meant for it to be pronounced "greer" then I like it even better!!
[/b]

ya I like "Greer" better than "Gry-er" for sure!

I love it (pronounced Gry-er not Greer) but I'd only use it as a middle name for a little girl, so cute!
