Surprised by the fact that Mackenzie and Madison aren't better represented and the amount of Sebastian's.

Wow! It seems like there are a lot of alternate spellings and "made up" names. None that I really liked.

M-Z seems a little better than the front of the alphabet.

I really hope Starlet and Walberto get together and make a cute couple. Their celebrity name can be Starberto or even better, Wallet!

Becareful with statements like this. Because I live in a very culturally diverse area (I couldn't pronounce over 1/2 the kids names in my son's kindy class last year), I looked up a few of the unfamilar names & they definitely aren't made up.

Naje - Arabic
Mekhi - Biblical name
Nhi - Vietnamese
Omima - Muslim

Yep, this is definitely true. We have a large number of Middle Eastern and people where I live (I used to be a first grade teaching assistant) and we had many of the names on the list. They were awesome kids.

I think this half is actually a little more like I would have expected versus the first half.

Surprises:

~That Oscar and Sebastian are so well represented. Especially compared to what I would have expected to have seen. I didn't realize they were climbing the popularity list.

~That this half seems to take a nod from cultural and uncommon names...moreso than the first half. I see a lot of names that clearly are associated with certain nationalities. And names that are less seen these days.

~I am not seeing NEARLY as many "made-up" spellings in this half. A couple less common ones, maybe (like Monae?) But not the number of the first half of the class.

The predictable:

~Matthew, Mason, Michael, Nathan, Ryan, Sophia, Tyler...no surprises there. Names that are repeated the most, as I would expect. (See above ones I wouldn't have predicted!)

Names I *might* consider: Oscar, Pierson, Sabrina, Seth, Silvia, and Zane. But I feel there are others that I "like" but would never use.

I didn't mean to offend anyone with my statement at all. I grew up in a culturally diverse area (Long Island) with many different ethnicities of friends (Indian, Egyptian, Chinese, Columbian), I wouldn't consider myself naive in this aspect.

I should have prefaced my statement with the fact I was commenting on the full set of names (both posts). I still think there are a ton of alternate spellings I don't care for and phonetically incorrect names. And many that I simply just don't like.
