My husbands family has a tradition that the first born boy's name begins with T and his middle name is Edward. I can't think of any T names that I'm in love with. Thomas and Timothy are a little too common for me, but I don't want anything too strange. Right now our top three are:

Thatcher
Trace
Truman

Any thoughts?

I like Trace, the other two are not my style. A few I like are Tristan, Talon, Teagan... Hope that helps!

I like Thatcher. I am not a fan of Trace as it sounds like Tracey to me which sounds like a girls name and Truman sounds like a last name to me.

Thatcher Edward I think goes well.

Trace Edward actually does sound good but... I said why I didn't like it

Truman Edward I don't like at all.

I really like the name Thomas, I think it grows with a person, as a baby it is cute and traditional, as a teen/ early 20ish it's probably "Tommy" and then when they are older it's Thomas again.

--

Here are some other T names I like, though you may not like any of them

Theodore
Taylor
Toby
Tucker

Tate Edward
Tevin Edward
Timothy Edward

Hope you find your name!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

My husband likes Thatcher the best, but I'm worried that it's too much of a mouthful for a kid. Could you use Tad as a nickname or is that too far off?

We both like Trace, but as someone else mentioned we're worried people might call him Tracey, which is definitely a girls name in our minds.

Lots of people suggested Tyson, which I like, especially with nickname Ty, but wouldn't you worry about the association with the chicken company or the former boxer/rapist?

When I say Tyson, I think Mike Tyson :s

The shortened version of Thatcher is Thatch , well that's what I've heard at least. I think Thatch is easy for kids to say, it's one syllable, but if you really like Tad that's a fine nickname too.

Edit: just thought a T first name with Edward as a middle name can be nicknamed "TED" T-edward.

Trace Edward sounds good, out of what you picked. I think Thatcher looks better on paper - Thatch. Thatch. Thatch. Picture saying that a zillion times.

I like Thomas Edward. I saw someone suggest Trent Edward - I think that sounds great for an adult but I would have a hard time calling a mushy little baby Trent - it's so grown up! I also liked the suggestion Theo/Theodore Edward. Theo has a great ring to it and the only Theo/dores that pop up for me are all positive connotations - Theo Huxtable and Theodore Roosevelt - win win!
