We dont know the sex of our baby yet but if its a girl we have a name we really like (keeping it secret for now) but its a hyphenated name with names like that would you have a middle name?
name-name ..middle name... last name..
or is that just too long? would you just stick with
name-name.. last name..
I was thinking that just the first name and last name sounds better, but as she gets older would she want a middle name, would it look odd on letters etc? i guess it seems strange to me because all my kids have middle names, would i be making a mistake not having a middle name?
Some sound good with the middle name. Some sound silly.
My cousins name is Julie-anne SURNAME and I think it would sound silly with a middle name, but the above posters example sounds good.
I think it all depends on the name but I know you don't want to share so I would suggest writing it out, saying it a few times to yourself and DH and imagine saying to to your child like when they are naughty. Will it sound good? Will it be too much of a mouthful? Will it be awkward for your child to spell or explain.
Something else you could do to get opinions would be to make a poll of baby names with hyphenated names and middle names and ask people to pick. Put your intended name in there and a few others and see which people like best?
My older sisters name's are Mary Aileen Siobhan, Mary Enya Sinead, Mary Brianna Kathleen and Mary Frances Anne. I find it completely normal as we're Irish Catholic and they're called by their second names (as in Aileen, Enya, Brianna, Frances/Frankie).
I plan to name one of my daughters Mary Eleanore Robyn in order to honour my Mam and my MIL. I think it's pretty.
I've never had any issues with not having a middle name! It's always made me pretty unique, so I've enjoyed it growing up! I've always gone by Kelli though (since about 3 yrs old, except for when I was in trouble ).
I think it definitely depends on what the first name-middle name combo would be!
