I know I don't frequent this board much, but I do love names and love planning what we will name our future children I have been doing it since I was 12...and "knew" I would have a girl named andromeda That is not gonna happen, but I am thinking of boy names for our next installment (that I am assuming will be a boy!) and have a great first name. But middle I am stuck on.

Here are the three names for you to get an immediate first impression before I tell the meaning behind each middle name we are considering:

Sullivan Mark

Sullivan Edward

Sullivan Andrew

(our last name rhythms with "clocks" if that makes a difference)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The meanings behind each name:

Mark is my dads name. He has been a great support to me my entire life. I am not a daddy's girl, but I do love him dearly. Mark is also my youngest brothers middle name.

Edward is my maiden name (Edwards). So it would wrap my dad, my grandparents (my second son is named after my grandma already), and my brothers all into one name. I did keep my maiden name in my name, but as a second middle name.

Andrew is after my mom. Her middle name is Ann. But her sisters both have always called her Sally Andrew. I am VERY close to my mom. And even if we have a girl, it is unlikely we will be using Ann as a middle name, as it doesn't fit our girl-name choices.

So, if you don't mind, could you tell which one you liked better immediately. And then if it changed or stayed the same after knowing what each name stood for? Thanks so much!! My husband would greatly appreciate if I stopped obsessing about a middle name for a child who is not conceived yet

Upon first impression I though Sullivan Edward flowed best together (although I don't care for Edward). After reading your descriptions of each it's still favorite out of the three!
Good luck!

I like Sullivan Edward and it's family connections the most.

Is your moms first name Sally or just a nn? If so Sally and Sully are very close. You could use it as a nn to honor her.

I like Mark best! When honoring someone, I tend to like to use the actual name rather than a variation.

ITA. I like Sullivan Edward best. It flows well and the meaning encompasses more special people in your life.

I love Sullivan Edward, I like that fact that it's including so many in the name.

(BTW, Sullivan is like my FAVORITE name ever. due to ex-fiance though, DH is adamantly NO about it)

I LOVE Sullivan Andrew. Such a manly and solid name, plus I love that you're honoring your mother because I always wanted to do the same!

Sullivan Edward gets my vote. I like Sullivan Mark, too, but if your surname has a K in it, I think it will sound too clunky

Love the name Sullivan, and I too agree that Edward is the best choice!
