What do you think about names that have the same initial for the first and last name? We are TTC, so this is a hypothetical baby naming conversation between DH and I. My husband really likes the name Ben, and so do I for a nickname, but the full name Benjamin just seems so cumbersome to me. This is partially because our last name begins with a B. So, I can only think of something like Benjamin Buttons. It doesn't roll off the tongue the way that something like Eli Buttons or Joshua Buttons does. Know what I mean?

What are your thoughts about double initials? Is Benjamin Buttons really such a bad name? I don't have a better suggestion that I like as much as he likes Benjamin.

PS: My BF had already landed on the name Bennett, so that variation is out!

Personally, I wouldn't rule a name out because of the initials. If I absolutely LOVED a name that flows well with my last name, I don't think I'd mind that the first and last name started with the same letter.

At the same time, I really DON'T like having a first and last name that end in the same sound. For example, Alexander Tucker or Kacen Henderson. Don't know what it is, just really bugs me!

In the end, though, it's all about what you absolutely love.

It's not so much the initials as it is the way the name sounds. Benjamin Buttons. Too much?

Agree on the last sounds thing.. for some names, it can be a little much. Like that commercial where the ladies try and say Roger Federer's name. Federerer - just flows off the tongue, no? ;-)

The double alliteration doesn't bother me at all. The only way initials would bother me is if they spell something out.

The alliteration doesn't bother me.... however, is your last name really Buttons? Isn't there a movie/main literary character named Benjamin Buttons? I think that would bother me more.
