We just found out that we are having another boy. I want to name him Charles Theodore. My twin sister Charlotte died 4 years ago and I would love to honour her. I am a little wary because apparently Charles is #63 in popularity in 2011. I don't want him to be a multiple Charles in his classes. WDYT?

I don't think Charles is that popular - at least not here. I work at several elementary schools and I've never had a Charles. I like it and I think it's a great way to honor your sister. Good luck.

Honestly, I've seen more little girls named Charlie then boys named Charles. I think it wouldn't be a problem.

i love the name Charles! I work in a daycare and I only know one Charlie. I don't think it's that common. The kinds of names I see are a lot of -aiden names mainly.

I haven't heard Charles used as a full first name in a long time. I think you'll be fine. I really like the combo paired with Peter. And it's a wonderful tribute.

I love it! I'm with the others. My kids are in school, daycare, sports, dance, etc and we haven't come across 1 Charles. I'm not sure where they get those lists. I've also not come across another Noah but that's supposed to be so popular too. I guess it depends on where you live.

Name popularity isn't the same as it used to be. There are far less kids with the top ten names now than in say 1979. Meaning the number one name in the country accounts for only a small percentage of names. People are much broad-minded when it comes to names nowadays. It also will vary region by region (you can check name stats for your specific state at the SSI site).

Charles would be a lovely way to honour your sister.
