My Bf and I have picked a first name for both a girl and boy (Violetta ad Gustavo, the boy will be named after him) I get to pick the boy middle name. I would like to use my Dad's name (Monty) since I will be having his only grandchildren but it doesn't flow very well. Although we are using both our last names and they don't flow together either (his is a four syllable Peruvian name and mine is a one syllable English name)

So what’s more important flow or meaning??? I can’t decide…

The fact of the matter is, you aren't ALWAYS going to be calling your baby by their full name. It doesnt HAVE to flow, it doesn't have to do anything. It's your baby and if you want to name it after someone thats alot more important than how it sounds. If it's what you like go for it. It's nice it the name flows but if not, I don't think its really something to worry about. Good luck in deciding

Yeah, ITA that flow doesn't always matter. I think if it has meaning, then go for it.

I'd say the meaning matters more than the flow

for me, a name definitely has to flow.. but in your case, i'd go with the meaning!

It's nice if it flows but it isn't a requirement. It's up to your personal preference.

I think if I was in your situation I would go with meaning, like someone else said, you aren't always going to be calling it by its full name. I personally would only choose a name that flowed well though, but thats just my personal preference.

Meaning is more important than flow, IMHO.

I chose to use a name that had meaning to me, even though I didn't think it exactly flowed easily (The funny thing is, a lot of people think that it flows just fine, so "flowing" could be just a matter of getting used to saying a name!)

With that said...
I rarely use my son's full name, so flow didn't really matter to me. I might feel a little different if I was going to be using the full name all the time, flow would be more important b/c you don't want to be repeating a tongue twister all the time.
