I like Isaac, but DH doesn't. we both like Charlie, but not Charles. we don't even want to put Charles on the birth certificate, even if we never use it, because we dislike it that much. is it too weird to use Charlie on its own? it would be Charlie Thomas.
the only name we were considering was Thomas James, but we aren't 100% sure we like Thomas in the first name slot.
from your suggestions:
Matthew- two relatives named matthew
Peter- don't like it
Henry- like it, not sure if it suits us though
Samuel- I like Sam, my female cousin is Samantha/Sam though
Trevor- nms
Gregory- like it, DH's cousin
Charles/Charlie- Like Charlie, not Charles
Isaac- love Isaac! dh doesnt
David- LOVE David, my brother's name
James- dh's mn and will be this one;s mn if we go with Thomas as a fn
Justin- close family friend

really??? I trust your opinion, I've been using this board for about 3 years now, so I know that some people would think it was weird to have a nicknamey first name. I'm glad you don't think it's weird though!

I prefer Charlie over Charles. My only hesitation on Charlie would be that it seems to be getting popular for girls...I know of 2 irl. I still prefer it for a boy though.
I love the suggestion of Joshua for you given you other dc's names.

Leo, Aaron, and Joel were all names I had on my list, but DH didn't like them.
Joshua, Jacob, Caleb, Daniel, William, Steven, and Colin are our cousins!
we are both pretty happy with Charlie, I was just a little hesitant because I don't like Charles but since 99% of the people we've talked to (on the internet lol, no one in real life knows the name yet) say Charlie is fine on its own, we are going to go with it!

I must admit that, I don't like 'nicknames' as first names, such as Charlie, but it seems that most people don't mind!!

hey everyone, just an update, we changed his name! right after we decided on Charlie my dad ruined the name for me by telling me that everyone used to call his brother (my birth dad, who died when I was 16) a horrible name that had charlie in it (even though his name wasn't charlie... don't ask...) so anyway, we went back to a name that was on my list 6 years ago before I ever even had kids!
so our new baby boy is Aaron Thomas and we are sticking to it
