I thought we were set on Arabella but after calling her that, I just don't see myself with a "Bella." and Arabella doesn't roll easily off the tongue. I really like "Avie" as a nickname but I don't like plain Ava for some reason. I mean I do, but not to use myself. We really like Aviana but our daughter is Elliana nn Ellie so that is kind of close with the -iana ending. Doable but close. I wanted to encorporate both grandmothers on each side of the family. So I was thinking Ava Marie nn Avie with middle name Caroline (Marie and Caroline family names). So my question is do you like Aviana Caroline better or Ava Marie Caroline. And if you like Ava Marie, would you do Ava Marie, Ava-Marie, or AvaMarie. I'm not sure I'm sold on any of these names, but there what I've got so far lol I love Caroline but don't want to use it as a first b/c I know she will eventually become "Carol" and I really don't want that, and the first time I hear it, I'll flip

I would do Ava Marie, and call her the full name And for the record, of the several Carolines ive ever known, none of them have gone by Carol.

If you want her to be called "Ava Marie" I like the idea of using AvaMarie or Ava-Marie as the first name and Caroline as the second name. I agree with the PP though in that every Caroline I know has never gone by Carol.

See both DH's grandmother and aunt are Caroline's and we didn't even know that until recently b/c they have always gone by Carol's. My son is Nicholas and everyone is already starting in with the Nick. I knew the day would come, but for me Nicholas is a boys name and Nick is a man's name.

I prefer Caroline to Ava or Ava-Marie. I'm not a fan of the name Ava for some reason (maybe cause I hear it so frequently?). I have a friend with a daughter named Caroline who is 11 and she goes by Coco.
What about Octavia nn Avie?
Or Genevieve nn Avie?

I'm not a huge fan of the double first names, or even two middle names. So I'd have to say I like Aviana Caroline the best!

Genevieve is on my list b/c my name is Jennifer. But after hours scouring name blogs yesterday I came across Lilia/Lillia (Lily-uh) which I really like. I also like Lilla (Lill-uh). My husband is Italian and after researching the name I found that Saint Lillia's patron saint day is on my birthday. It's the first name I've come across that I really like. My only concern is that people will mispronounce it which I expect but that it gets shortend to Lilly and my daughter is Ellie. Not that big of a deal if we stick to Lilla or Lillia.

I like AvaMarie... My daughters name is Avalynn but we just called her Ava... and my middle name is Marie so I'm biased.

I like do Ava Marie Caroline....but at the same time I want to point out, that even if you don't want to call her Ava other people will try to...even with it hyphenated. My friend named her daughter Emma-Lee Alexis and I think she is the only person who actually calls her by her full first name. I know there for a bit she would get on people that it was Emma-Lee not just Emma, but now that her daughter is in school she has given up the fight.

I know a few people with the name Caroline and none of them go by Carol, but then maybe it's a regional thing?

I also really like the name Octavia that a previous poster had mentioned!

Thanks for all your input! I don't think I want to do a double barrel name, and honestly now that I am really paying attention to Ava...it's EVERYWHERE. With good reason, it's a great name but I just don't want to do something that popular. My top right now is Gianna, it's my moms name in Italian. We can still use Caroline as the middle and we have an Italian last name so it will flow! Plus I love the nn Gia. My husband isn't 100% sold on it b/c in his words...it's guido. But the only other thing we can agree on is Lillia and if people called her Lilly it would be too close to her sister Ellie, so even though I love Lillia I think it's out. I think the winner is Gianna. He says it's growing on him so I think I can work him
