Skyla?

We were all set on our names that we had discussed for months before conceiving, and were pretty positive that we wanted to use the name "Olivia Claire" (first and middle name) if we have a girl... then I had a dream that we named our daughter "Skyla Claire" and it's begun to grow on me. Even DH loves it! We still really love Olivia though too. Silly dreams, getting in the way of plans! We had discussed "Skye" or "Skyler" for a girl or boy, and we both still love the name, but the added "la" makes it a bit more feminine. Still not sure if we should put this one on the short list though. "Olivia" is just so classic and pretty, cute nn options, but still professional and not embarrassing or anything when they get older. lol

Any thoughts on Skyla or Skyler?

I think it's pretty. I had a friend who named their daughter Skyla. She was a very outgoing, spunky little girl.

I think Sklya is a beautiful name! Also LOVE Olivia though - but it is way more common than Skyla you have great name options!

I agree with Elle - both names are really pretty, but Olivia is very common at the moment. I'm a teacher, and I think there is an Olivia in almost every class in our school. Not that you should be dissuaded by that, but it's just something to think about if you are on the fence.

Edited to say: you still have plenty of time. If you and DH still love the name when you are 7 months pregnant, I'd say go for it!

I like Skyler better than Skyla and I definitely prefer either of those over Olivia which is VERY common these days.

Thanks for the opinions, ladies. Glad you all like it. I'm honestly not too concerned about "Olivia Claire" being popular. This one has some family meaning, so I'm not really worried about that in this case. Besides, it's been popular pretty much my entire life (I'm 23). It's like never being able to use the name Matthew or Johnathan etc because they will ALWAYS be around. And I've never personally met an Olivia, so it's cool with me. xD Plus, my usual name taste can be a little eccentric, so I'm embracing the super common name I do like. haha

I do have a soft spot for less common names like Skyla/Skylar. My boy names are all on the less common side (boy will be Killian or Kieran with Todd or Ares as a middle name... they're around, but not EVERY kid is named these) But we'll see. So glad that you all like the name and I wasn't like making up crazy names in my dreams or something.

I like the name Skyla a lot, and Skyla Claire sounds nice together. I had a little Skyla in my class a few years ago, she was a sweetheart. I prefer Skyla over Olivia.

I like Skylar/Skyler for a boy only. Skyla would be very pretty for a girl.

I like Alice. If I saw Alyss I would probably say uh-liss if I didn't know it was supposed to be Alice. Like Alyssa minus the uh ending.
