My nephew's name is Lake. If this baby is a girl, I really want to use the name Lane. My husband thinks they are too similar. Neither my sister nor I think that they are. One is a boy, one is a girl, and they don't rhyme. However, I'd love other opinions.
My 2nd favorite girl's name is Blake...which I DO think is too similar

I absolutely don't think they are too similar. They sound different, and have totally different feels.

I think they are kinda similar but not in a way where they will constantly get confused. And if you sister doesn't care, then I say go for it.

I don't think they are too similar. But then I don't think Lake & Blake are too similar either. They rhyme but other than that are very different.

My sister's son and her nephews names are Colby, Koby, and Cole. They manage just fine.

Their not to similar though even if they were similar I would say it doesn't matter. I really don't like Lane or Blake for girls (especially Blake).

I don't think so at all. While they may "look" similar, they don't have the same sound or feel.

Thank you so much everyone! I showed DH this and he STILL doesn't want to use it I'm really sad because we found out today that our baby is indeed a girl and Lane is the only name that feels "right" to me. He won't budge.

I don't think they are too similar. I don't think Lake and Blake or too similar either though. They are cousins, not brothers, and it's not like one is "Olivia" and the other is "Oliver". hehe Plus "Blake" is more traditional and "Lake" isn't, it's like a totally different style of name. But either way, as far as "Lane" goes, I think it's fine, and cute. I say go for either name if you love them and your sis doesn't mind.

I mean that are close, but not too close, I agree that Blake and Lake are too close! Plus if you and your sister agree that they aren't close then I'd say go for it!
