You may remember my earlier poll about what name I should choose, Evelyn or Everleigh. My daughter's name is Madelyn so I was worried that Evelyn was too similar as they share the last 4 letters!
So, I have been just going back and forth obsessing about it. I am stuck on an Ev name because we love the nickname Evie. I decided to focus on the middle name, so I e-mailed my aunt to ask my grampy's mother's name. I don't remember what her name was because she died when he was 18. He used to always talk about how Christmas makes him sad because she died around then. My grandfather was the most important person in my life. I was VERY close to him and I love him and miss him so so much (he died this summer). My aunt e-mailed me back and his mother's name was EVA! I feel like it is a sign. I started crying because I couldn't believe it fit perfectly with what we were thinking for a name. I tear up just thinking about it. I just knew that Eva had to be her name because it solved all the problems I was having with Evelyn and the nickname Evie is still possible I think. I just feel like it is the closest thing to naming her after him (not going to name her his name!) When we were discussing Eva before, my dh wasn't sure he liked it, but after he found out it was her name he knew it was right. He was very close to my grampy too and knew him for about 12 years. So, I finally feel at peace.
Some questions for you:
Do you think it is okay if we still use Evie as a nickname when she is little?
What middle name do you like with Eva?
We are thinking...
Eva Harper (because we have always liked Harper but decided against it as a first name)
Eva Paige (not sure why)
Eva Noelle (I think it is beautiful but I would have to convince the hubby- he thinks it is Christmasy)
Carly and Phil, proud parents of:
Alaina Rhoslyn {2.15.07}, Natalia Lorraine and Georgia Carol {7.31.08}, Penelope Julia {8.25.10} and
our newest addition Benjamin Philip {8.06.11}
I LOVE the name Eva. If I ever have a daughter, Eva will be her name. It was my grandmothers name, I was very close to her, she passed when I was 9. I will be naming my future daughter Eva Grace. My nana's middle name was Mae (Eva Mae). I think Evie is a perfect middle name. Out of the ones you have listed, I like Eva Harper best.
Well, that's what I was thinking. I think my grandmother's mother's name was Marie. I have never really liked the name Marie and I work closely with a Marie, but Eva Marie sounds good to me.
Eva Marie flows really well! You said you 'think' it was Marie, you may want to double check. My husband thought his grandpa's mn was Alton and we wanted surprise his family by using it as a mn for our second son. Long story short, he was wrong, lol!
You could change it up a bit...
Eva Mari
Eva Marianne
Eva Marielle
Eva Maris
Eva Maren
