So I've been a hug Big Bang Theory kick. I love that show and watch multiple episodes every day my life!!!!! As such the names Sheldon and Leonerd have both grown on me to an extreme. So I'm just wondering if there are any names from TV shows/movies/video games/books that have influence in either the names chosen for your children or the names that you currently like? And if so, from what movie/tv show and such have them come from?

Other names I've grown to like:

Penny - Big Bang Theory
Percy - Percy Jackson novels
Meredith - Grey's Anatomy

My husband and I picked the name Cynan from Stephen Lawhead's The Song of Albion Trilogy. The name Cynan means "mighty".

My son's name wasn't influenced by a movie/book or video game but it was influenced by music. His name is Francis after Frank Sinatra.

I loved the Thoroughbred young adult book series when I was growing up because I love horses. One of the main characters is named Ashleigh. It was the first time I had ever seen the name spelled like that, and I just fell in love with it.

If I am ever lucky enough to have a daughter, I really want to name her Ashleigh because I have so many great memories of reading the Thoroughbred series and spending time with my horse while I was growing up.

Most of my favorite names are from One Tree Hill; Haley, Nathan and Lucas lol.

our son's name was "inspired" by One Tree Hill... we didn't name him AFTER the character, we just realized how much we liked the name from watching the show.

I often wonder if my daughter's name was influenced by my favorite childhood show, Full House. Her name is Rebecca Michelle and both of those names appeared in the show and I LOVED that show growing up, so I wonder if subconsciously I picked her name for that reason.

if our second baby had been a girl he would have been Rachel, and I always liked the name Chandler but hubby doesn't and my favorite show EVER is Friends.

Our daughter's name is from a computer game. We spelled it different from the characters name.

I really like the name Astrid. (from the tv show Fringe).

This is why my husband likes the name Pepper (Iron Man)

I've been asked if my daughter was named after Rachel and Ross's baby on Friends, which was my favorite show when it was on, but it's actually a family name. Although I do wonder if that is where the whole "Emma" popularity started.

Her middle name is also technically after my mom, but the spelling is "sort of" after Elisabeth Sladen who played Sarah Jane on the original Doctor Who. Not entirely after her, but kind of an homage to her because it is my husband's favorite show.

And this isn't really a television or movie thing, but I love the name Iris after the Goo Goo Dolls song. They are my favorite band.
