okay, i don't come here much, as i'm just not big on the whole naming process, but i have stopped by with questions and comments a handful of times. i'm jaQ, 22 yrs old, from the April 06 PR, and some of you may recognise me. *waves* mom to Timmy (3 next month) and Missa (melissa, almost 4 months).

I was sitting upstairs just now and had a thought pop into my head, about a possible middle name for a future son. let me give some background.... my maiden name is Arntfield. I'm very proud to be German, and love the name so much that when I got married, 3.5 years ago, I kept my name (am thinking of hyphenating it). And suddenly, out of the blue, I got this thought-- lots of people are giving family names, and mothers' maiden names to kids nowadays-- in fact, an old friend of mine wants to name her firstborn son Sullivan, after her family. So, what do you think of "Field" for a middle name? Of course, we'd need a first name that flows, and out last name is Howard. So, hypothetically, for example, say... Jonathan Field Howard?... I realise it's a little out there, and I'm not sure what I think of it, myself, so please don't think that just because it's a family name, I'll be hurt if you say you don't care for it.

or, any other ideas how to get "Arntfield" into a cute, normal-sounding name? thanks guys, you're great.

I think it's a great idea!! My best friend gave her son her mother in laws maiden name for a middle name. It seemed kinda "out there" at first, but now it is "so him"! His name is Logan Wood Last Name!

I think Field is perfectly fine, unless his first name is Strawberry

I wanted to do something like that, but my maiden name is McKibben, and people used to call me McKibbs or just McKibben. I kept my last name, but my husbands last name (and now mine and my childrens) is Rizzatti, which we couldnt use as a middle name either.

I think it's very cute with the right first name. I named my son Conner, Conner is my maiden name. You don't know how many people ask if I named him Conner Conner But I think it's cute.
