I need help . I love love love the name Madelyn and I'm going to use it !! Someone told me that this spelling makes it look junky and too creative .. what do you think ?? I don't like the spelling Madeleine because to me that looks like Mad-uh-line .. and I'm saying Mad-uh-lyn . Is there another spelling that I could use ?? Thanks !!

I like it Madeleine, but since you dont like it, try Madeline, Madalyn or just use Madelyn, to me it looks fine!

Junky?? Not at all!! And that's definately not "too creative"... I think "Madelyn" is my favourite spelling I've seen.
I really like this name, too! It'd be adorable with Nevaeh, too great pick

Madelyn is the original spelling for the way its pronounced,,, you couldn't even use Madeline because its not even pronounced the same.
I love love Madelyn

Madelyn is a trendy and made-up spelling. Madeleine, however, is gorgeous, rare, and it isn't made-up so it has history and meaning. It is definitley the best spelling if you want the Mad-uh-lyn pronunciation.

Madeleine looks wayyyy made up to me,, it looks like someone put too much effort into making it look different.
Brit, I agree with you, it would get pronounced (and I pronounce this way also) Mad-uh-line

I think you have made the right choice in the spelling!

Madeleine is french, and it is pronounced Mad-uh-lyn, though it may not look like it. It's much more sophisticated looking than Madelyn, which looks too cutesy to me. I prefer it spelled Madeleine, but that is just my opinion.

Madeline
(Greek) strength-giving
Madaleine, Madelene, Madeleine, Madelon

Madelyn
(Greek) Strong woman
Madalyn, Madlyn, Madolyn, Madlynne

We aren't french so we are thinking of how the majority of the population would pronounce it

MADELEINE
Gender: Feminine
Usage: French, English
Pronounced: ma-de-LEN (French), MAD-e-lin (English)
French form of MAGDALENE, commonly used in the English-speaking world.

If you don't like this spelling and are worried about pronunciation, than it's your decision, go with Madelyn if you must

I like the spelling Madeline. I think most people know the name and know to pronounce it properly. My sister middile name is Madelaine > maa-duh-lane lol.
