There are a couple of names in this list we're considering, but I'd like to see what the gut reaction is on whether the name would belong to a girl or a boy... so, I've posted a mini list Your thoughts are appreciated!

Avery
Blake
Camden
Emery
Emerson
Hennessy
Kemper
Kestyn
Logan
Lane
Peyton
Paxton

I know many are pretty gender neutral, but I'm really interested to see what you think. AND... Are there any names on here that you think, "Oh, no. Total Boy (or girl) name and should not be on a girl (or boy)" If so, let me know! Thanks!

Avery -- Girls have taken over Avery but I think it still works as a boys mn
Blake -- Boy
Camden -- I would have to meet the child before I knew if it was a boy or girl
Emery -- Girl
Emerson -- Same as Avery
Hennessy -- Neither, sorry
Kemper -- Girl, I think
Kestyn -- The 'y' makes me lean towards girl but I could easily see Keston on a boy
Logan -- Boy
Lane -- I would assume boy but I do like Laine/Layne as a mn for a girl
Peyton -- Same as Camden
Paxton -- Boy

Thanks, ladies. I'm at a loss for names, and I apparently only like boy names and I think (from u/s and diagnostic tests) we're having a girl. I am just having a hard time finding a girl name that people won't cringe when they hear it on her.

Just wanted to tell you that Hennessy is a common alcoholic beverage. Not sure if your intent was a cognac related name.

It's actually not a name we have on our list, but a friend named her girl that and it was something we kind of thought, "hmmm... talk about destiny" Not my style, but I wanted to see what others thought

I love unisex names so it's hard for me to "assign" a gender to these names, but here are my gut instincts!

Avery - girl
Blake - boy (although we almost named our girl this)
Camden - boy
Emery - girl
Emerson - girl
Hennessy - girl
Kemper - boy
Kestyn - boy
Logan - boy
Lane - boy (but ADORE for a girl. it's my fav name but hubby shot it down)
Peyton - girl
Paxton - boy

I went to HS with a girl named Hennessy and she totally pulls it off. I no longer think "booze" when I hear it

Avery - I know more girls named Avery than I do boys.
Blake - one of my favorite names for a girl. I also like Blakely, but I LOVE blake for either gender
Camden - I think rev. camden from 7th heaven as my gut reaction, but i like it for a girl. I prefer the spelling of Camdyn to fem it up a little bit
Emery - girl
Emerson - this was our alternative name for Brylie. I love it, but I prefer the spelling Emersyn for a girl..."son" = boy to me
Hennessy - i hate it
Kemper - either sex, i think of the guy jessica biel was dating in texas chainsaw massacre but i think it works great for a girl. i think it's pretty cute
Kestyn - girl
Logan - girl, i know 4 girl logans and only 1 boy..I think it's very cute, and we probably wouldve used it for Brylie but my husband has a bad (female) name connotation with it. I love it though, and then call her Lo
Lane - i think boy for this. i think of the cowboy from 8 seconds right off the bat
Peyton - girl
Paxton - boy

Avery- I view this as a girl name, it's an okay girl name, but not my favorite.
Blake- boy but outdated. I knew a lot of Blakes when I was a kid and they were all boys.
Camden- boy but not a good boy name, I really dislike -den names.
Emery- I love this name. I view it as girl. For a boy I'd use Emerson.
Emerson- haha see above^ love this name.
Hennessy- I don't know if I view this as a boy or girl name but I'd think his/her parents were alcoholics. It just makes me think of the liquor.
Kemper- boy but rhymes with temper which I don't like.
Kestyn- girl? Looks like a disease
Logan- boy, like it.
Lane- boy, love especially for a middle name
Peyton- I view this as unisex but it is becoming more girl for me as I hear more girls with this name. I like it but wouldn't use it.
Paxton- boy, it's okay. Not my favorite.

Here are my gut reactions:

Avery - girl
Blake - boy
Camden - boy
Emery - girl
Emerson - boy
Hennessy - never heard this one and definitely NMS, but I would guess girl.
Kemper - boy
Kestyn - girl
Logan - boy
Lane - boy
Peyton - girl
Paxton - boy

There was a Loghan in my youngest son's class (girl) and it took me a while to realize the "Loghan" he kept talking about was a girl rather than a boy!
