My son's name is David Anthony. I really wanted a girl and was looking at unique girl names, but today's u/s tells me its a boy. Now I must decide if I should still go for a unique name or stick to a classic like my firstborn. What do you think? Unique? Classic? or a mixture of both?

By the way David was my grandfather's first name and Anthony is my SO's first name.

You could give him a classic first name and then a unique middle name or visa versa? Do you have any ideas as to which classic/ unique names you like?

I am partial to unique names... So is my sister.. Mine are Walker Ray and Braxton Dwight... Her's are Desimber Nickole and Kimberlee Dawn... I love the name Cobalt.. I am not a fan on matching names... I just pick what feels and sounds right to me....

I like timeless and classic names myself. It might be a good idea to use a traditional first name and then find a trendy or unique middle name to balance the two out.

Though Cobalt is unique & different.. I guess next to David..it's a bit odd sounding.
Hi my name is David & this is my brother Cobalt? How does that ring to you? These are my sons, David & Cobalt.. What about just using the name Cobalt for the middle? Or call him Coby? David & Coby is cute. I think based on your first son's name, I'd go with something a little more mainstream.. but that's just me!!

You have to name him what you love..and thats what counts. The rest will fall into place.

Good luck.

Cobalt would be an awesome middle name. Since you used your grandfathers name for your first born's name what about your SO's grandfather or even one your your fathers name?

I used Kent Wayne pulling Kent from my F & FIL's name Kenneth & Wayne is my dad's middle name, of course he'll be getting FIL's last name so it was a pure combo of both our fathers. I consider Kent to be unique and Wayne to be classic so I guess I see his name as unique to him.
