How do you pronounce the name Keira? I say it (Keer-a) and is there a better way to spell it? Also... does it sound too much like Kiera or Kiara? WDYT because I really LOVE the name. TIA

LOVE this name, it's my #1 choice right now. I also prn. it Keer-a

I plan to spell it Kira which is the Persian variant of Cyrus and is derived from "sun"

I fell in love with this name & spelling from The Dark Crystal when I was about 9 and I still love it.

Whenever I have seen it, I have always pronounced it Key-air-ah, in my head... so never aloud, so I don't know. Just what I always assumed.

I pronounce Keira Keer-ah. After all, words spelled that way have the ee sound (weird, receive. receipt for example). Then again when the i is before the e it still makes an ee sound (pierce, fierce, field etc) so it makes sense that Kiera is pronounced that way too. Now if there were an extra r in the i before e version - Kierra, I might pronounce it Key-air-ah. But Keira, Kiera, Kyra and Kira are all pronounced Keer-ah IMO - and in the baby name book I have beside me
BTW I love that name, it is one of my best gf's baby girl's name, spelled Keira too, and it is on my list as a possible for my baby girl, spelled Kira.
