When I was pregnant with Julia, we could NOT agree. THat Christmas night, about 6 weeks before she was born, I said: "OK, enough: we're deciding tonight." So 2 friends joined us and we opened an assortment of booze (for them ) and I went through the baby name book- name by name!!!!! And he had an objection to every single name I liked. (Ex: I loved "Caroline". He hates the song "Sweet Caroline" because Neil Diamond sings it, so no good.) And so it went, long into the night. It was hilarious!!
I finally made up a list of first names I could live with, and middle names I could live with, and told him to choose one from each column. Hence: Julia Mary.
With Kira, I cut to the chase and made up the lists.
For some reason, Brian wasn't such a problem. And it's weird: he's adopted, so he has a Korean face and an Italian last name. You would think he would be the difficult one
WIFE TO PETER
MOM TO BRIAN (6-18-98)
I know what you are going through... Charles and I had Walker's named picked out when I was 1 month old... Now Braxton's name I had it picked it out when I was 6 months.. And he kept telling everyone we were undecided... He even went to the point of telling me that he was mad at me because I didn't let him choose the name... But everytime i asked him... He told me that we had plenty of time... Even the month before my due date those famous words came from his mouth. Then I started having problems with my B/P and finally got put in the hospital and still we didn't agree on the name... To my surprise when I came out of recovery Charles named the baby Braxton Dwight... I was shocked...
Dh and I had the worst disagreements when we were deciding on names for Rylan. His first name was easy. We agreed on it almost immediately. It was the middle name that was a terror. He wanted to name him Rylan ATHOS!!!! Athos is one of the Three Musketeers. I was horrified. His initials would have been RAG. NO WAY!!
Fortunately he finally accepted that our baby would take Dh's first name to be his middle.
We will not have nearly the drama for deciding on names for Baby #2. They are already decided. Ella Nicole or Liam Jennings.
With our daughter, we didn't name her until she was few hours old... we still couldn't decide on a name. He liked Allison, I liked Callie. Somehow we decided on Lily. Lily was one of the first names we had picked out when we found out I was preggo. We had decided on Grace as the middle name as soon as we knew it was a girl.
