I think it looks awkward, like you have to look at it twice to make sure you're reading it right

Have you seen the Geico comercials? The ladies name is spelled Caitlin but they prn it Cot-lin. I thought that sounded awful.

That's actually the original Gaelic pronunciation. Caitlin is meant to be KAHT-leen or KOTCH-leen, rather than KATE-lyn.

I'm not fond of it either. I'm not big into trendy spellings, the way I look at it is - Why subject your child to a lifetime of people misspelling or mis-pronouncing their names? I would imagine it could be frustrating.

Like for instance, my name is Andrea - pronounced ANN-dree-a. My whole life, people pronounced it ON-dre-a or on-DRE-a. After a while you get sick of correcting people. There's been plenty of times I've even been called Angela and now I just go with it....
