i really like the name Isla. (pronounced Eye-La) but i hate the way it is spelled because i think people will always say Is-La. what is another way to spell it. i cant figure it out.

I'd just stick to the original spelling . I know what you mean about people constantly mispronouncing it because the spelling is off , but I don't think you should alter the spelling just for that reason .

I, for the most part, am a stickler for traditional spellings. In this case though, I get why it would be annoying to your little girl. I have a great-aunt named Ilaf (pronounced Eye-luf in case the name is so old you've never heard it!). I guess you could drop the 'f' and use Ila? Other than that, I can't think of a non-creative way to spell it.

<span style="font-family:Georgia"> I like the suggestion of Ila, I think more people would pronounce it correctly that way. Or maybe Iyla, or does that look strange?

I think I would keep the Isla spelling. We have a restaraunt locally called La Isla, and I hear a lot of people calling it Is-la instead of eye-la.... so I totally know what you mean by wanting people to prn. it right.

I don't think the suggestion of Iyla is that bad, I still like Isla better.

I would stick to the original way also. The only other thing I could think of is Ayla but I think people would pronounced that Ay-la too.

Although it may be a problem for your daughter i do perfer the spelling isla, I think the name is becoming more and more popular so more people will most likely be able to pronounce it

I know one and she spells it Ayla, which I really like but at first thought it was pronounced differently, so I guess it's not much better lol.
