OK, so I was wondering how you do the Jr. thing if you and DBF possible aren't getting married and you want baby to be a Jr. AND have mommy's last name?

Would it be like

John Joe Smith-Hicks Jr.

or

John Joe Smith Jr.-Hicks ?

Anyone know of anything like this?

But how would they know that "Smith" was the father's name? This is so confusing...

Well, technically isn't a JR's name suppose to be exactly the same as the father's? So a hyphenated name doesn't technically fall under that. But I certainly would want my child to have my name too (I personally wouldn't compromise on that).

Also though, when you hyphenate your name isn't your maiden name suppose to come first? Then if someone saw the Jr. they would know that the father's last name was the second one.

Right?
