..... do you think the name Addison became even more popular with Grey's Anatomy??? I'm just curious, because over here in New Zealand, I've never heard of the name before Grey's came out..... Or has it always been a common name in the US?

I don't think it has always been popular, Grey's Anatomy could be part of the reason... but I'm really not sure. I actually just started watching Grey's Anatomy a couple months ago (a few weeks before Christmas) and I got hooked.... However, my daughter's middle name is Addisyn and the reason we chose the name is because of my grandfather's middle name.... NOT because of Grey's Anatomy.

It's not too popular here, the name itself. I haven't heard it untilI came on the boards lol...it seems pretty popular on here though! And I don't watch Grey's...so I couldn't tell you on that.

Hi Emma!

I seriously haven't really hear the name Addison around here until this past year (maybe 2006?) for the first time.. so for me...it's relatively new.

I think the show just helped the popularity. I love the name myself.

I never watched the show so I didn't even know someone was named that. But I have a friend that has a 5 year old son named Addison, and that's the only time I've ever heard it in real life.

I heard it a bit right before Grey's came out, but it has made the name pretty popular

I do think the name Addison will get more popular because of Grey's Anatomy. But I also think that people looking for something a little different from the super popular "Madison" are using Addison to be a little more unique.

I named my son Addison in 2001. Back then it wasn't in the top 500 at all, and then it started becoming a girls' name.

Traditionally it is an Old English name meaning "Adams' son".

I think GA will only make it more popular as a girls' name.

I hate when people ask me if I wanted a girl or if I was naming him as a spinoff of Madison. I was asked this all the time when he was a newborn, I wanted to yell "It is a an OLD BOYS' NAME!!"
