Do you like Fiona?
Do you like it as a sister to Sofia?
Finally, would you consider it for a child of your own?

What would you pick for a male sibling?

I voted yes. I used to hate Fiona. Lately, it has REALY been growing on me!! I don't know why.

I also think it flows well with Sofia (though I really dislike that name!) but it's definitely not too close!

Yes, I like Fiona.

It's all right as a sister to Sofia ... I don't really think it goes but it doesn't clash.

For a male sibling to Fiona I would choose another "modern" Irish name. Contrary to popular belief, Fiona isn't an actual Irish Gaelic name. It's made-up to sound like a feminine version of Fionn. You can tell because in Gaelic you don't just stick -a on the end of a name and call it a girl (Briana is obviously made-up for the same reason). To stay within the same "group" of names (recently coined to sound Irish) I'd choose Brandon, Shane, Shawn, Kyle, etc.

I LOVE the name Fiona! I don't think it's too close to the name Sofia. And I would use it on my own child. It just doesn't go well with my son's name.
