Cute. I prefer Isla but don't think Ila's bad at all. It's a straight forward spelling and a nice name.

Thanks for all the opinions. Now, if I tell you that Ila was my grandmother's name and that she passed away right after we found out I was pg, would that change your opinion? Most of you seem to dislike the spelling. Her name was Ila Mae. I am pondering using both names. What do you think?

I think that it's cute! The only thing is that I thought it was pronounced E-La at first. I think I like it spelt Iyla better & love that it has special family meaning to you.

I love it but only with the original spelling , Isla .

Ila looks very odd and out of place to me .

It does change my mind. If you're naming her after her grandmother, I'd spell it like her Grandma did. Ila Mae is absolutely adorable! Congrats.

There is no greater honor then to be named after a great person. If your gma was wonderful to you what a fantastic honor that would bestow both her and your child. I love it!

i think it is the spelling that makes it difficult... are you dead set on honoring your grandmother with this particular spelling? or just in honoring her in general?

I think that the spelling of Ila is the most simple and to the point. Some of the other suggestions like Eyla, I can see people looking at it and questioning how to pronounce it.

I think the spelling of Isla is pretty but I can also sense people, who don't know better, looking at it and saying "Is-la".

Thank you for all of your opinions!
