Well, DH has finally made a list of Jewish names that he would consider for a girl, and sadly there is not a single name that I love on there. There are names that I like, but they are so popular right now, and I was hoping to avoid that.

So help me pick a name for if/when I have a daughter. I'm hoping that whatever name I settle for will eventually grow on me.

Also, I am stuck with the middle name Garnet, as DH already promised MIL that we would name our first daughter after her mother, so there is no point in recommending other combos.

His choice is Miriam Garnet, but I just can't get excited about that combo at all....

I think Abigail is such a pretty name. I love the shortened Abby as well.

Why can't you both choose the name? Why do you have to settle for something you don't like just because he does?

Out of what's listed I like Leila the best.

I like the names in the poll, I just don't love any of them. The names I do love he absolutely hates. Its all in the name of compromise.

I like Abigail more, but Leila sounds better with Garnet.

Nope, if I did it would be off the list. My favourite Hebrew name is Chava, which DH has crossed off the list since no one where we live would have the slightest clue how to pronounce it. I do think Chana is much prettier than Hannah, though.

Going strictly by full first name, I voted for Hannah. It is the FULL first name that I like the most. Abigail would be the second, MIriam the third. If Leila was prn. Lee-EYE-la then I would like it, but I don't like that spelled for Layla. I prefer Layla or Laila spelling of the name.

If you are looking for a name where you could use a nickname, I think Miriam would be my favorite because I *love* the nickname Mimi!!!
