I have a friend w/ a daughter named Caroline and I really like it. I obviously love Karly (that's how we spell it), it is my 2nd daughters name. I just don't think Caroline needs a nn, I would just probably call her Caroline and hope people don't shorten it to Carol.....nothing personal, just nms.
I love the name Caroline...it's classy and elegant and I've thought of using it myself! I really don't like nn Carly. If I were to name my child Caroline, I'd probably shorten it to Cara as I like that name as well (for me, it would be the best of both worlds--2 names for the price of one)...really don't like the nn Caro either.

I love the name Caroline and like the name Carly (prefer Carlie). To me, they are completely different names and I wouldn't get the nickname Carly from Caroline. Maybe Carol, maybe Cara, but Carly just isn't intuitive, at least not to me.
Plus Caroline is SUCH a beautiful name, I would not want to shorten it.
