I really like the name Bethany but am afraid if I used it people would call her Beth and I don't like Beth. Even if I call her always by her full name others always shorten names or use nns. Can anyone think of another nn other than Beth that could be used if people do choose to shorten her name. I would prefer they call her Bethany but I can't make them so I at least would like to find a nn I like or go with another name.

My best friend's mom is named Bethany, and goes by Annie. I could see Betsy or Bess working as a nn, but I don't really like them...

You could call her Any (Annie), An, Bet, B, Betsy, or Betty. Or a made-up nickname like Sparkle. The upside to a silly made-up nickname is, once she gets to be about 8 or 9 she'll start making people call her Bethany, which is what you want.

Knowing our family, if you call her Bethany...she will most likely be Beth. I love Bethany too, but it will probably be shorten. Stick with Aubree.

My mom didn't want anyone to shorten my name and she just told everyone my name was Christina and if they called me Chris, Christie, etc she would correct them. Even to this day I have a hard time introducing myself and signing my name as anything but Christina.

It is your preference and when she is old enough, she can choose if she likes to be called Beth or not. I like the name though - I think it is very pretty!

I really like Bethany, but I dont like the nickname Beth either. It's a bit of a stretch but you could use Thea (Thee-ah) I think its really cute!

Same with me..my name is Christina too. The only person I know that does not call me Christina all the time is my dad..he calls me Christi (and spells it that way when he writes little notes to me or whatever), Chris, and to get on my nerves..Christi-Chris. Everyone else calls me Christina. A few ladies here on JM have called me Chris in posts before..and it's actually kinda annoying but I never make a deal out of it.

As far as Bethany goes...I have a good friend named Bethany and she goes by her full name all the time. I've never heard her called anything else.
