My youngest child's middle name is Columba. My husband picked it because it's a saint's name with a feast day on her birthday. Our other daughter also has a saint's name (Bernadette). Apparently, Columba is an exclusively male name. Can anyone confirm this? (Besides BtN)
I usually find behind the name to be very accurate however these are some other sites I found about the name Columba. I don't know how reliable these are though. I personally always tought it was a male name. www.babynamenetwork.com

The boy's and girl's name Columba \c(o)-lu-mba\ is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "dove". Saint Columba, sixth-century Irish saint, founded an influential monastery on the Scottish island of Iona, and is supposed to have exorcised the River Ness of a monster. Though the Irish Columba was a man, two other saints of that name were both women. The dove is a Christian symbol for the Holy Spirit.
Columba has 5 variant forms: Collie, Colly, Colombe, Columbia and Columbine.
