Ire is another word for anger or wrath, so I definately would not use Irelyn as a name for a little girl.

Ooh... I did not know that! Thank you, because we definitely don't want to go with a name that has a not so nice meaning!

Irelyn doesn't mean anger or wrath ... like Desdemona has the word "demon" in it if you look hard but it doesn't MEAN "demon".

What Irelyn is, is a cutesy misspelling of Ireland. It's like naming a child Franse, Eng'Lynne, or Mexikoh. So ... no, not a good first name in my book.

hmm. I think it is a very pretty name. I would not have any bad feelings about the name and doudt most people would. I would however spell it Ireland, but that is just my preference. Your baby-your spelling!
