Are you serious? Addison, McKenna, and Emma, and Logan, Austin, Wyatt, and Connor are EXTREMELY common.

Sorry, but not a fan of your lists. I like actual names with a history.

She said these are my faves "not all too uncommon" which to me means that she knows they're not uncommon!

I think she was saying the above lists were the uncommon/unusual ones.

To me, "not all too uncommon" meant "slightly popular, but still uncommon enough that they're nice and not overdone."

There are many names on her list that are actually trendier names from past eras or other locales. I am sure that many Rowena's, Aurelia's, Thora's, Aline's and Oksana's would beg to differ that these are not "actual" names. Many of the boys' names are Anglo surnames and I think that could be considered a type of "history."

I get your point about the "not too uncommon" thing. Unfortunately, many of us have loved names for a long time that have recently become very common, and it's hard to let go. My best friend has planned to name a daughter Emma since she was 5. I know b/c she told me... back then! She's livid that it's become so popular!

Yeah, I saw some nice ones. I meant surnames, mostly. Not suitable as first names, in my book. Or "Lykayla," who will get lost in a sea of McKaylas, Makaylas, Michaelas (if only), Makylas, etc.

I know! I've loved Isabella and Julian forever.

This is a great list for those of us looking for a really "unique" name. They sound faery-like I know a stie that has all kinds of different names and what they mean - http://www.babyhold.com -it can give some nice ideas.

IMO Wyatt does have history, at least to me. My son, Wyatt Christopher is named after dh's great great grandfather Wyatt Robert and his middle name is after my deceased brother.

...I know Wyatt has a history. Did you read my post? My point is that it's enormously popular, and therefore not "unusual."

I don't think I would consider Wyatt 'enormously' popular. It is moving up though which stinks! It was 81 in 2005 and 90 in 2004. Before that it hasn't been in the top 100.
You have Julian listed as one of your favs and it has been in the top 70s since 2002.

That's what I meant: It's moving up.

Makes me think of John Wayne and westerns, personally (and I don't know why..)

I agree... thats how I read it too... which is why I was confused that Addison and McKenna and names like that were on there. I scratched my head thinking "Those are VERY popular names..." lol

Hey Niamh..

A) Is your name pronounced Neeve, with a long E, or Neve, like Neve Campbell?
B) May I *squish* Seamus?

I like many of the girl names but none of the boy names.
From the way she worded it I took it that she knows the names on her list are popular.

Niamh can be pronounced either "neev" or "nee-av". I pronounce it "nee-av". Though, my nick name is Neve (said like Neve Campbell's name).

Yes you may.

Seamus is totally squishable.

I'm not giving up on Julian or Audrey, not ever.

Yeah, I agree with Hannah (KMFDM), that most of those names are completely made-up and lack history.
Some of them were nice (Aurelia and Rowena), but mostly just torn apart and combined with other names.

What Mel said.

"Rowena" to me is Rowena Ravenclaw.
