I would appreciate any critiques on my list...be honest...I can handle it These are all possible first names...Some I love more than others--some I think they are mn, but then decide I'd like them as a fn...I keep going back and forth between what I like and then get myself all mixed up. Thanks in advance!!!
Aida (pronounced Ae-da)
Elias (nn Eli)

Alexandra - really like it, it was DD's name til the day she was born!
Genevieve - very cute, though probably not one I'd personally use
Layla/Leila - ADORE it! If this one's a girl it'll probably be her name.
Aida (pronounced Ae-da) - like it!
Audra - like it!
Adrian - very cute, but getting popular here
Nathaniel - ADORE it! If this one's a girl it'll probably be his name.
Oliver - cute, we might use it as a MN
Elias (nn Eli) - I really like it, though don't know if I'd use it.
Alexandra-- don't like this at all, or any form of this name
Alia/Aliyah-- I like Aleah spelling only
Caroline-- don't like it, better as a middle name
Carys-- it's ok, not a name I'd use
Keira/Kira/Kyra-- I don't see Keira and Kira/Kyra as the same name. I prefer Kyra of the bunch
Kara-- it's ok, I like Kerra a bit more
Genevieve-- don't like it
Nola-- don't like it
Charlotte-- cute, but not a name I'd use
Layla/Leila-- I see these as two totally different names. I like Layla/Laila and I like Leila but we prn. Leila as Lee-EYE-la NOT Lay-la
Lydia-- it's ok
Nora-- cute, but not a name I'd use
Stella-- really don't like
Selene-- don't like
Aida (pronounced Ae-da)-- I like Ada
Audra-- it's ok, not a name I'd use
Amalia-- don't like, but I love Amelia
Calida-- don't like
Madelina-- it's ok
Julian-- don't really like it
Gabriel-- don't really like it
Adrian-- it's ok
Gavin-- really odn't like it
Lucas-- I used to like it, but not so much anymore
Nathaniel-- not my style, better for a middle name
Oliver-- growing on me!
Grant-- it is ok
Chase-- don't like it
Micah-- don't like it
Elias (nn Eli)-- cute
James-- middle name only, but I wouldn't use it
Alexandra - nice but when considered as part of the set "Alexandra, Alexis, etc" it's one of the choices used when people just want to use the nicknames Alex or Lexi.
Alia/Aliyah - I will always spell this Aaliyah because of the singer. Is it okay if everyone makes that association?
Caroline - good! I especially like the nn Carrie.
Carys - nice sound but huge potential for misspelling and mispronunciation
Keira/Kira/Kyra - Kira. Pretty, from a good book (Ayn Rand's "We the Living"), simple, but the K thing makes one look trendy even when that's not the intent. For that reason I'd never choose Kyra.
Kara - I'd assume someone made this up and was trying to be trendy but was not aware of ALL the trends (it's missing the -ee, no Mc, etc). It's very pretty but I think someone trying to sound "cool" would also think that.
Genevieve - Nice but definitely gaining popularity recently.
Nola - Will always be NOLA (New Orleans Louisiana) to me.
Charlotte - Good but I always felt the nn Charlie was trying a little too hard to seem "girly but still strong".
Layla/Leila - Too similar to the popular Kayla.
Lydia - I like it but most people will say it sounds "Goth". Remember Lydia from Beetlejuice? I wouldn't personally care but do you?
Nora - Nice.
Stella - This is on my DF's list so I've grown more appreciative (next to Hayden it looks so beautiful ).
Selene - Same here.
Aida (pronounced Ae-da) - Nice but no one will ever spell it right. Is that okay?
Audra - Pretty but seems to be playing into the "Aubrey/Audrey" trend.
Amalia - Okay.
Calida - Same thing with the spelling. Nobody will ever get it right. I'd guess she'd always get mail addressed to "Kalita".
Madelina - I love this.
Julian - I like but potential for playground teasing. Julie Ann, anyone? Does that matter to you?
Gabriel - Very nice. I love the nn Gabe and the full name Gabriel equally. Biblical names for the boys are getting big though.
Callum - Seriously bordering on trendiness. I'm waiting to see a baby Kallym.
Adrian - Monk? I like Adrian but for the next few years everyone will remember Monk.
Gavin - Cute but I can't picture a grown man named Gavin.
Lucas - Pretty good. The nn Luke is pretty popular though. I'd really like it if he was actually called Lucas.
Nathaniel - Nice, solid, but nicknames never sound right. Nate isn't the same sound and neither is Nathan.
Oliver - I see this more often now.
Grant - Good.
Chase - Chase who? It sounds like a command.
Micah - Sounds like Michael pronounced by someone with a bad accent. People will hesitate.
Elias (nn Eli) - Cute but getting more popular ... I see it on lots of lists.
James - Good, classic, getting less popular compared to all the Kaydens.
Woo. That's a lot of names. You have some great ones! I really like Madelina and James.
When I mentioned this name to my DH....he said, "It's not a name--it's a verb"...we probably won't use it
It is a verb!
It's a command I use with my dogs ... kind of like Fetch. It's a fun game for them since one has a bit of a herding instinct ... it means "follow it but don't pick it up". If I named my kid Chase they'd be following him all the time.
