Both are pronounced the same way. Which spelling do you prefer?

Do you like this name? I am having the hardest time with boy's names. I hope it's a girl cause we have a few great options. But I can't find that many boy's names i LOVE.

Anyway - dh really likes this name - Bodie/Bode. Do you think people would try to call him Brody? We love Brody but our last name starts with BR so it is a tongue twister!

Bode, I would pronounce just like the word. If you're going to use the name I'd definitely spell it Bodie. It's not really a good idea to use a name that's spelled exactly like a word when you want it to be pronounced differently. It'd be like naming him Death but insisting everyone pronounce it DEE-oth ... confusing for everyone, kwim? (I don't know why I used Death as an example, it's just the first thing that came to mind! )

Anyway, if your last name starts with BR, people reading his full name will probably tend to call him Brody, even if you use Bodie. It's human nature to make words that look similar rhyme or sound more alike than they really should. I had a teacher once named Marcia Garcia. Everyone who saw her name KNEW they didn't rhyme, but she was usually called mar-SEE-a gar-SEE-a, or worse, MAR-sha GAR-sha. So you may want to just use Brody anyway because of the way your last name is spelled. People will probably insert the R whether you want them to or not, and in this case, you like Brody better anyway, right?

I would spell it Bode just because that's how I like it best. It's actually on my list. However, be prepared for people to pronounce it wrong.

My friend's son is named Bohdi, yet another spelling, but pronounced the same (like bo-dee). I like the name, it's different and cute!

Bode is just pronounced well, BOAD. Bodie is Boad-EE. For the pronunciation you want, Bodie, but I think the name is rather unattractive.

Bode looks like rode...and using the normal phonics rules (which we can totally brake for names) it would be pronounced as if it rhymed with rode. So if you want it pronounced bo-dee or bod-E, then use the Bodie spelling. The name is nms though...to close to body.

People who know who the skiier Bode Miller is will know how to pronounce it. I still think Bode looks better because Bodie looks WAY feminine..

One of my good friends named her son Bodey. A lot of people HATED it when they named him that but now that he is here it fits him SO well and everyone loves it. I think its a great name but will probably be misprounced and misspelled from time to time. If that doesn't bother you then go for it!

My first thought is of Bode Miller so I like the spelling Bode better. Bodie is way too feminine.

Also Halle Barry spells her name with an anti-phonics e at the end. So if it's good enough for her...

I, too, think Bodie is very feminine looking. Bode makes me think of the skiier...I like it!

Bode looks more like a name and Bodie looks more like a NN to me (it's my grand-nephew's NN, his name is Jesse, I have no idea why they call him Bodie but they do). I've also seen the name Bohdan that I like too.

I really like the name Bode.

I think the "ie" makes it look "cutesy". I much prefer Bode.

I like Bode, spelled that way. My mom's friend (her son is my age now so 22) named her son Boden, and we always called him Bode for short so maybe that may work for you too.
