That they name the created/made-up/misspelled names "American". Doesn't that kinda make you sad that we are the ones picking horrible names for our kids?
Examples:
Aaralyn
Beonica
Amberlin
Camisha

Yep. I guess it makes sense because the use did originate in America.

I really hate it when they mark the origin as "unknown" though! There are plenty of legitimate names that end up marked as "unknown", too, because they haven't done the research yet or for whatever reason ... and they get all jumbled together. It makes it so hard to tell.

I hate that too. People make up some names that are just ugly, and think they're being unique and creative. But I agree they're American, because that's where that trend started.

The worst I've seen in my area are Jailyn (JAIL-yn?) and LATRINA.

I also hate when people use a common name and misspell it "so their child won't be like everyone else." But tons of people are doing that, so it's not that unique! If you don't want your child to have a common name, just use an uncommon one, don't misspell a common one. Names like Jesyca, Kayleb, Ashleigh, and Makayla just look illiterate.
