We've already decided on the name "Jackson" spelled with an x instead of the traditional "ck". We don't want him called Jack, but would be okay with a "Jax".
(no comments from the peanut gallery on that part! )

The decision left is how to spell it. Jaxson or Jaxon? I'm much more inclined to the Jaxson, but dh isn't so sure.

What do all you experts think?

If you named him Jackson, you could still call him Jax. Nicknames don't always have to be part of the name they are short for. If Jack was originally a nickname for John, Jax can be a nickname for Jackson.

If you absolutely insist on spelling it differently, just use one spelling change. X makes the same sound as "ks", so the s would be superfluous. Just go with Jaxon; that is much simpler and more intuitive than Jaxson.

Wow! I sure was wrong! Thanks, ladies! I'm really surprised... Jaxon.

Thank you, again.

My two cents:

I only like the spelling Jackson. I think it looks REALLY weird with an "x".

If you ARE going to use an "x" though, just JAXON looks best, because with the extra "s" in there, it makes it look like it's pronounced JACKS SON instead of just JACKSON.. you know what I mean?

I have Jaxon on my list for a boy, too. The reason I would use an X over the CK is, also, I DONT want him to be called Jack. I like the way Jaxon looks, but for some reason when I write it, Jaxson is what comes out...
Really, I just wanted you to know, I am asking myself the same question and for the same reason. = )
Go with whatever you think looks better or feels better. I dont think Jaxson would be mispronounced. And ya know, so what if it was. CORRECT THEM!!

I like Jaxon. Jaxson looks like you're trying too hard to be creative. There's just too many letters in there.

And actually, I like Jax better than Jack. :>) We actually have some cousins who named their son Jaxon, and they call him Jax. I think it's cute.

I think Jackson would be the best spelling, but out of your two choices... definitely Jaxon. I think the "s" is pointless if you use the "x".
