I am pretty set on using Emma Elisabeth as the name for my first daughter, but DH and I were talking last night and we both agreed that we love the name Iris. What do you think of the name Iris Isabella? I think I may use this as my 2nd daughter's name if I ever have one (or a twin name if I ever had twins although that is highly unlikely). I kind of like how the first initial is the same on the first and middle names of both choices.

I have to admit I'm really tired of hearing Emma, and Emma Elisabeth is very generic and boring. Sorry.........But if you like it, that's all that matters. I MUCH prefer Iris, it's so much less common and more refreshing. I think you should use it for your first, but that's just me. :>)

BTW, I LOVE the name Neil! It's a great name you don't hear much anymore. :>)

Thanks for your opinion. Emma Elisabeth is a family name though and has special meaning to me. I liked it way before it got popular.

I'm not a fan of Iris, but I think Iris Isabella sounds ok. I prefer Isabel over Isabella.

"Emma Elisabeth is a family name though and has special meaning to me. I liked it way before it got popular. "

Then I think you should use it, reguardless of popularity. Meaning trumps popularity any day, IMO. :>) My Son's name is very popular too, but they both have special meaning for us. So I know where you're coming from.

I would go with Emma Elisabeth...I think any name with meaning totally over rules the popularity factor.

I love the name Iris! I think Emma and Iris make a very nice sibset and also like how they are 'connected' with both having the initials be the same letters.

I really love Iris! I was going to echo the Emma being too popular sentiment, but if it has meaning for you, then go for it. But Iris I love.
