I know a lot of people feel that Avery is a masculine name. I feel it can go either way, i was thinking that if I chose the name Avery that I could use Ava as a nickname to make it more feminine. What do you think?
LOL, Avary reminded me of Aviary! I'm actually on the fence with the Avery/Ava issue.
I LIKE the idea because Ava is more feminine, and she would have more choices when she got older. She could go by Avery if she wanted to.....
I DON'T like they idea because IMO, they're both separate names. Ava is a name on it's own, and it seems silly to name your baby one thing, and call it something else. If you like the name Ava, then why don't you just go with that? If you like the name Avery, then name her Avery, and CALL her Avery. KWIM?
I would be inclined to name her Avery, and call her Avery. And then if she thought it was too "boyish" when she got older, she could go by Ava, which sounds more feminine and grown up. But most likely, there's going to be plenty of girl Averys that she won't think that.
