I'd search but the function is broken right now

What do you think of Emerson?

For a Girl?

For a boy?

Do you hate it just because you dont like surnames as first names, or is it something else?

If you love it, why?

We are thinking of it for a girl... We want to use a family name of Grace, and we like the name Emma as a nickname but dont want to use Emma as the full given name. We'd probably use the nickname of Emma, Emmy or Gray (for Grace.. its a family thing)
So Emerson Grace? It seems boring as Emma Grace.. and I"m pretty opposed to common middle names, but again its a family thing.

I don't like it much. For a boy, it sounds O.K., but sort of nerdy. I don't like it at all for a girl. It's really trendy for some reason, and I don't like the -son surnames on girls trend. Emerson Grace does seem like it would be a really common name.

Other names that Emma could be a nickname for:

Emmeline
Emilia
Emmanuelle
Esmeralda

I think I like it best for a girl. I've only heard it used for girls. Emerson Grace sounds really good to me! It has a nice flow to it.

nms but I don't mind it. I prefer it for a girl cause a boy would probably end up with a girl emerson in his class at some point.

I like Emerson but dislike Emma for the nickname. I like Emmy or Gray though. Actually, I quite like Gray. I've heard it for a boy but not for a girl.

I really love it for a boy spelt Emerson, its OK on a girl all though I would spell it Emersyn to get rid of the "son" part. If it was me I would use Emmalie as a longer name for Emma! Grace is a beautiful MN BTW!

nms for either a boy or a girl. Definitely not for a girl though. The name Emma Grace is absolutely beautiful though!

I think Emerson is feminine. And, obviously, I LOVE Emma! I don't know that I like Emma as a NN for Emmerson...if I had an Emmerson, I would use Em or Emmy.

How about Emmeline? I like this name a lot and Emma is a more natural NN for it!

For me the "son" will brand it forever as a boys name...there's a reason it's there IMO but, that said, I can't help but kind of like it on a girl...a guilty pleasure I guess
